The huge success of Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book is the latest example of just how handsomely Disney’s strategy of making live action films based around its animated classics has been. It’s got Pete’s Dragon coming later this year too, with Beauty And The Beast in early 2017, and lots more similar projects in the works.
In fact, the Mouse House has earmarked five further release dates from 2017 to 2019, as it ramps up the number of these projects it plans to release. Some are fairy tale-based, others are just listed as “live-action.”
